Department of Ecology University of Szeged | Magyar |
The Department of Ecology was established as an independent department in 1990. With this, the ecological and systematic zoological courses of the former Department of Zoology, and the ecological courses of the Department of Botany were brought into one place. The department initially operated in the building in Egyetem street in the downtown of Szeged, then the unit moved to Újszeged in 2007.
The range of courses taught by the department was already wide from the start, then the offer in supra-individual courses has significantly expanded due to the accreditation of sector training in ecology and the subsequent biology and environmental sciences programmes. These courses cover the topics and practices of General and Applied Ecology, Nature and Environmental Conservation, Biogeography, Systematic Zoology and Ethology. Some of these also include summer field courses. The department participates in the activities of the Doctoral Schools of Biology and Environmental Sciences with separate subprograms. In addition to the educational profile, the breadth of research areas has also expanded significantly.
